PUTTING PROGRESS IN PERSPECTIVE

The Junior League of Seattle is a network of empowered female civic leaders working with community partners to address and solve pressing issues like Early Childhood Literacy. We’re part of an international network of 291 Leagues comprised of over 140,000 women, in Canada, Mexico, the U.K. and the U.S., engaged in similar work in their own communities. This provides us with a unique and powerful depth of knowledge and resourcefulness to bring about the changes we strive to accomplish.

COMMUNITY

Since its inception in 1923, members of the Junior League of Seattle have worked to improve our community through our mission-driven projects and our hands-on work with our many Community Partners. Each year, JLS members contribute over 45,000 hours of service to our community, and over 100 of our members receive the Presidential Volunteer Service Award, donating 100+ hours each year to volunteer service. The Junior League of Seattle also received the Governor’s Volunteer Service Award in 2016.

Currently, the Junior League of Seattle is placing its focus, volunteers, programs and projects on Literacy.

In addition to our focus areas, the JLS also provides volunteers for short-term projects through Done in a Day and provides art education to over 19,000 King County students each year through Northwest Art Project.
