Junior League of Seattle

Requirements

Membership in the Junior League of Seattle is open to women ages 18 and older who express an interest in voluntarism. Those who join spend a year as Provisional members while learning about community needs, volunteering, and getting acquainted with the organization's projects.

Provisional members must attend at least 4 General Meetings/Unit Meetings, 4 Accredited Trainings and 4 Service Shifts. As a Provisional, it is required to attend at least 5 Provisional Small Group meetings and participate in a Provisional Project. Attendance at the Saturday Provisional Retreat in September is mandatory. Provisional members’ financial obligations are dues of $175, plus the Provisional Course fee of $75. All Provisional fees are payable by July 15 of each year.

After a Provisional year, members become involved in community service projects, fundraising projects to support the community service, or in League in support of the organization. This is known as Active member status. Active members must complete 2 service shifts while attending 2 General Meetings, 2 Trainings, and 2 more Trainings or General Meetings. Active members’ financial obligations include dues of $175, donation to the Annual Campaign of at least $1, and donation/procurement for the Premier Event of $150.

After five years, members may choose to become "sustaining," that is, take a less active but supporting role in the League. Sustaining members may choose to return to Active status at any time.

Anyone who would like to become a member must attend an orientation session. Sessions are held in the spring. Interested women may email newmemberinfo@jrleagueseattle.org to find out the orientation schedule and provide an email address to receive an Evite for the upcoming new member orientations.
